INGLESIDE INN, collaboration with Kirk Crippens
On our first visit to Ingleside Inn, we noticed mismatched layers of decor from many decades- dating back to the early 1920s. We also discovered that most of the core hotel staff had been employed for more than twenty years. We felt the community they formed through years of familiarity. We wanted to preserve this place in time. We envisioned each photo as a tableaux, carefully composing the portraits on the grounds as if we were creating a wax museum exhibit. We sought to amplify what was “still” in each portrait. In 2017, Melvin Haber, the owner of Ingleside Inn passed away. The inn is currently undergoing renovation, redecoration and corporate homogenization.-G.L.
